![]() ![]() I know they do have higher quality 4K ones now but they also have higher cost and mixed results. So needed to get 2 4k(60hz) HDMI switches for the two monitors. I already had the basic KVM I using for keyboard, mouse, speaker. I saved money by doing the setup I have now. ![]() They do have KVMs that can handle my setup in one go, but it’s expensive and reviews were mixed. I think one PC is older so have a DVI to HDMI adapter for it’s second monitor connection This allows me to type and mouse on first PC, and still observe the second monitor on the laptop PCĪnd can reverse it if working on laptop and need to observe PC activity So I may want to keep an eye on email/messages from the second computer while I do work on the first one.įor that I set the first HDMI switch to 1, second HDMI switch to 2, and the k/m/s to 1. I just select 2 for all three switches.Īt times I have both computers running. So if I want my laptop to have everything. So to keep it simple desktop PC is selection 1 for both HDMI monitor kvms and also position 1 for the keyboard, mouse, speaker switch ![]() I have a basic KVM that connects mouse, keyboard and speakers to both computers. The above is so I have dual monitors for both my PC desktop and my laptop dock But will try to talk it outġ HDMI switch connected to one monitor but 2 PCsĪ second monitor hooked up to another HDMI switch and it has a connection to both PCs Hoping someone else here has done this and has a nice solution :) and a "workspace/desktop/verticle coding" display, but what is the best way to easily switch machines? There are these monstrous >200$ KVM switches that have 2 video outputs, but do I really have to fork over extra several hundreds of dollars? I was thinking maybe i can just go with a 2in:1out, and then get an HDMI splitter, but it looks like i have to be careful to get one that actually supports extended displays because many passive HDMI splitters only support mirroring (WHY WOULD YOU MIRROR SIDE BY SIDE SCREENS?!).Īnyway, my use case seems like it would be pretty common its nice to have a screen for gaming/watching videos etc. However it looks like all the sub 100$ KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switches are only 2 computers in: 1 HDMI out. I would like to set up a switch between two computers (a work laptop, and a personal gaming pc) and two side-by-side monitors - extended display ofc.
